Socio-Economic and
Coffee Indicators at a Glance With more than half of the Colombian municipalities including coffee as an important agricultural activity, the socio-economic impact of this product is quite evident. Since its inception in 1927, the National Federation of Coffee Growers of Colombia (FNC) has made a point of monitoring key coffee and socio-economic indicators, and striven to maintain the quality of life of the coffee growers. This presentation explores coffee's contribution to the lives of the 560,000 coffee farmers, as well as sharing the Federation's continued efforts in supporting coffee cooperatives, price transparency, social investment and other fair trade benefits. In addition, maps of each of the 16 coffee-growing departments are featured, with a detailed look at San Lorenzo (Department of Caldas), where "La Vereda" specialty coffee is grown. The maps provide a top-line glance at the depth of information compiled by the Federation on every coffee growing region in Colombia.
